NAB Show 2017 was another success for us at Fortium, with a host of technology partners and potential customers that we were delighted to meet with and to hear direct from the many industry experts about what solutions are needed in their current workflows to protect their sensitive content.
One of the things we showed off at the show was Live Folders, encryption on the fly, which allows MediaSeal users to auto-encrypt any files that are dropped into a set folder - be it on their local disk drive or a shared server. You can also export from editing programs live Avid's ProTools or Media Composer, direct into a LiveFolder, or set up workflows via Telestream's Vantage that can keep transcoded files encrypted throughout. We are hoping to have this tool available for purchase in the next couple of months.
Live Folders is a neat solution that ensures sensitive media files are encrypted easily, with no change of workflow for busy collaborative environments that are often under huge time pressure. We'd be delighted to set up a demo to show you how this works in more detail - everyone we demonstrated this to instantly saw how quick and transparent it could be implemented in their current work environment.
Our CEO Mathew also took part in numerous debates during the show, one of which was hosted by CDSA and MESA in the first ever Cyber Security pavilion at NAB. Entitled "The FYI on ROI for Security: Developing a Risk Management Strategy'", Mathew was asked questions on best practice for media professionals in keeping their content secure. More information on that talk can be found here: Cybersecurity & Content Protection Panel Discussions at NAB 2017, which also includes a link to the audio of the panel discussion, or for a detailed write up you can visit the CDSA website.
Fortium also hosted our own debate on the Tuesday, on whether security can be frictionless in post-production workflows. You can learn more about the debate here: "Can security be frictionless in post-production workflows?"
The main takeaway from this talk was that solutions need to evolve around the needs of post-production studios, which is what has led to the evolution of MediaSeal to provide an encryption on the fly tool.

“Security is something that is [growing exponentially] because we can see all the cybersecurity threats all the time, every day.”
