How it Works
Fortium's CD and DVD copy control technologies can be integrated with Watermarking technology to enable combined copy controlled and watermarked disc burning. This process is called 'Double Dip' protection and operates effectively on duplication equipment including Rimage systems. CD copy control and watermarking is used extensively by major record labels.
DVD Watermarking: Previously the addition of copy protection with watermarking could greatly extend production times making it impractical to undertake fast turnaround projects. Fortium’s Patronus DVD anti rip copy protection software now integrates seamlessly with DVD watermarking systems to create a one stop production process. Contact us for more information.
Audio Watermarking: Fortium builds and manages customised watermarking databases for the ingestion and look up of data for watermarked discs for the record industry. Remote look ups for the immediate decoding of detected watermarks for referencing by content owners is a service we provide through our partners. Contact us for more information.

MSI USES THE PHILIPS WATERMARKING TECHNOLOGY, CompoTrack WAV. It is a vital tool in the management of a secure audio distribution system for any organization. Whenever a pirated song is found on the Internet, the MSI software can determine from where the leak has occurred and identify the person who made the first illegal copy. Moreover, the digital delivery of newly released songs to radio stations can be secured by adding a unique watermark to each distributed song.
In recent months the MSI Copy Control and Watermarking system has been used by some of the most prestigious recording artists as part of the major labels' strategic development of anti-piracy doctrines to protect their content. These include BEST-SELLING ARTISTS SUCH AS JAMES BLUNT, BON JOVI, LINKIN PARK, ALANIS MORISSETTE, KEANE and many more.
FLEXIBLE AND INTUITIVE, the MSI Copy Control suite comprises a software-based audio protection system for embedding watermarks and/or adding copy protection to audio content. Any protection or personalization added to the disc can be implemented at varying levels. This is achieved without affecting the audio quality or size of the original audio source. This application provides users the opportunity to watermark their content and TRACK ANY UNAUTHORIZED DISTRIBUTION on the internet.
In addition, COPY PROTECTION MEASURES may be added at varying levels of security to prevent the unlawful duplication of original discs. The methodology used is an encapsulation process on compact disc recordable media (CD-R) that wraps around the audio content controlling device access. This technique enables the information contained on the disc to be protected without being altered or affecting sound quality. The control program provided as part of the disc management system only resides on the CD-R media and DOES NOT INSTALL ANY PROGRAMS that alter your access to the content.
Designed to provide a FULLY SCALABLE solution, the MSI software is compliant with the entire range of Rimage Systems, from the Rimage 360i to the Producer 8100, the MSI Copy Control suite is approved for use with any of the Rimage Systems.

Challenge
A growing number of illegal copies of movies, TV shows and music are becoming available on the internet, P2P networks and news groups in the very early stages of the content life cycle. This often occurs even before premiering or first airing of the new series or music releases. Leakage in the content production workflow or distribution process creates a serious commercial risk and potential loss of revenue.
